TORONTO, Nov. 13, 2020 – This month, the new Elmvale & District Food Bank in the Township of Springwater is expected to open its doors with support from Hydro One. The company provided a donation to connect power to the new food bank that will play a critical role for individuals and families in need, especially as it gears up for a busy winter. The support was made possible through Hydro One’s community investment program, Building Safe Communities, promoting both emotional and physical safety.
“With food insecurity becoming more prevalent across the province, Hydro One is finding new ways to give back to the communities where we work and live and address the challenges many families are facing,” said Spencer Gill, Vice President Customer Service, Hydro One. “By energizing the Elmvale & District Food Bank, we are able to support the charitable organizations making a lasting difference and building a better and brighter future.”

“The Board of Directors and volunteers of Elmvale & District Food Bank wishes to thank Hydro One for their support in donating the costs of connecting the power to our new building,” said Dave Don, Vice President, Board of Directors of Elmvale & District Food Bank. “Our new home is being built by the commitment of our community partners. We are now accepting applications for Christmas hampers. Apply in person at the food bank Wednesday 4-6pm or Thursday 10 am -noon.

As we head to our new building and a new beginning the students of Elmvale District High School came by and donated much needed hygiene products. This drive into a healthy competition and each house received a point for each donation and in the end the Pirates where victorious , bringing in the most items .
Thank you to Mike Ferris owner of Canadian Tire Midland for donating through www.canadahelps.org to our foodbank. Mike recognizes that many residents from the Elmvale area shop at his location and he wanted to give back. Thank you
Thank you to Jim and Jennifer Cote and the staff at the Elmvale Tim Hortons for their continued support to our community. This year the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign resulted in $8,000.80 being donated to our Food Bank. Thank you to everyone in the community who supported this campaign .
